Crystals, Baby!

Crystals and their properties have long fascinated humankind. They are nature's architecture – precise, reflective, timeless.

Crystals Baby von Elisabeth Seidel

"Crystals, Baby!" explores salt-grown crystals as the basis for a material-based lighting object. Under controlled and optimized conditions, a transparent acrylic glass body is placed in a salt solution and left to rest. Over several days, a structured, reflective crystal layer quietly grows on its surface.

The crystal layer is self-supporting and reflects light with a soft brilliance – reminiscent of ice or glass, yet entirely made of salt.
